Take a look, it's in a book

The Magic Library
- Haunted: There are ghosts in the stacks, and they are definitely disturbing the other patrons.
- Way into this book: No, literally--you are now in this book. Maybe it's the Great American Novel or maybe it's a suspense thriller. Whatever the plot, the only way out is to see it to the end.
- The characters are so real...! and in front of you, demanding your attention. That could be the other person in the thread! Or it could be frickin' Sauron.
- Dynamic Dewey Decimal: The shelves in here are curiously mobile. Whether you see it happening or not, it's soon obvious that the place has become a maze--and you're in the middle.
- Forbidden section: Every good magical library has one. Eldritch runes, lurking curses, a necromancer who's been waiting for someone to read him back to life--it's all in here, waiting to be uncovered.
- Magic for Dummies: Ever wanted to learn magic? Great! There's a bunch of easy how-to books right here! They're a little light on safety precautions, though....
- Sir you need a library card for that: You work here and you're trying to deal with an unruly patron... and the library is still magic. This is the most harrowing prompt on the list.
- Magic library? Really? Somehow, you are having a completely normal-ass time in here. That's remarkable in of itself.
- Wildcard!

"Does it only impact fabric?"
And, truth be told, she was a little distracted by Marie's bare shoulder... but it wasn't nearly as distracting as Marie having been entirely naked just half an hour or so before, so it wasn't so overwhelming.

And Marie urges more to appear, changing another sleeve into a glove before letting it form around her torso.
In a burst of light, a white top with a pink jacket formed on her person, replacing her own top and neatly being form-fitting.
no subject
... Had Marie ever seen one of those? Perhaps, perhaps not.
"I don't know if pink and gold are your colors, exactly, but you definitely wear it well!"
There were a few more official observations to make, of course, but Nita didn't mind putting that on the record.
She could always redact or filter it later, if she had to.no subject
“I think it looks wonderful, honestly.” She replied. “It’s like something out of a cartoon… oh, I betcha it’s like one of those magical girl shows! Those are so fun to watch!”
She got up to see how mismatched her top was with the blue long skirt and brown boots that still remained.
“Ah, shall we see the end and see what appears?”
no subject
Hopefully.
Nita nodded, smile still on her face. "You had something in mind for, ah, a finale?"
Or was it time to select the next gem?
no subject
She has to wonder what Nita thinks. Of her. Yes, they just met, but it seemed the girl was so interested in her.
no subject
With an expansive gesture and another smile, Nita wordlessly asked for Marie to go ahead.
She could handle any flustering on her part, she was sure.
no subject
A few moments later, a short skirt, thigh high socks and boots would appear on her.
“Ta-da!”
no subject
"That does help tie it all together," she managed, rallying herself with the compliment and a flirtatious smile.
"Now, as for other things to check, ah... what's the range, distance-wise, for what it can change?"
Nita gestured to herself with one hand; if what was needed for the magic to work was permission, Marie had it.
no subject
“Definitely permission-based. Close-range. Maybe related to emotions?” She said, tilting her head.
“But, I’m not sure what would happen if it was pulled away.”
no subject
Hey, it probably wouldn't last, but still!
"You mean if you stopped calling on the magic mid-transformation?"
Probably needed a few more specific nouns in there.

Either way, Nita will have it noted in her Manual.
"... Do you want me to take the jewel?"
It was a question, not something Nita would just do - but it felt right to at least put it on the table, as it were.
no subject
At the question, Marie nodded and handed the jewel to Nita. "Let's see if I'm right."
And if Nita takes the jewel, the costume will start to unravel.
no subject
And very contingent on who was in contact with it, if what was happening to Marie was any indication. She let herself be transfixed, for a moment-
Then, before she could get too distracted, started work on her own costume change. Her outfit became shorter, less formal, but also much fluffier, more cloud-looking and whimsical.
no subject
Even more so, she got a glimpse of what she looked like underneath and blushed, looking away as she did. She didn't deserve to see that - she might have been freed by her, but she was certain she didn't want to be seen.
Once it was done, she looked back up at Nita, awed by it all.
"Amazing. It's dependent on who's holding it." she mused. "Mine was more formal, yours more fantastical."
no subject
But that was neither here nor there; Nita smiled, a touch of ruefulness to it, but warmed by Marie's own reaction.
"Did you get any sense if there just being one option?" she asked, and while that was a genuine question she had a follow-up:
"I mean, could we turn this into a kind of strip-tease, or did the conversion factor feel a bit more rigid than that?"
no subject
“Actually, yes.” She said. “It’s definitely drawn to what someone is thinking at the moment. I honestly believe it would change into various outfits whenever we changed.”
no subject
The 'fabric' became amorphous, filling in more of her legs instead of her arms, accenting the former's shape and clinging to her hips. A top still remained, albeit with spaghetti straps instead of full sleeves, but the new outfit was much more revealing all around, and in black.
"Like this, you mean?"
no subject
“Ah… yes. Yes, that’s right. I always assume most don’t do that since they like what they get the first time.”
no subject
"But we have time to do a bit of a deeper dive - though that goes for all of these. Now, which one next?"
This one's magic had been quite benevolent, really; how could the others be similar, or different?
no subject
Her hand moved towards the blue gem, picking it up and shivering. “Cold. Ice magic, it seems.”
no subject
"Just ice magic? That seems... somewhat simple."
Which meant it was either very versatile, or very limited in what it was meant to be used for.
no subject
On a whim, Marie focused her magic into the gem, watching as the ice started to crawl over her body.
“It’s responding to my water magic. It might not be ice, but water instead.”
no subject
Or at least the portion of the atmosphere that contained water-as-gas...
Nita's expression of interest intensified, and she stepped over with something on her mind.
"Is it all right if I touch it?"
The ice forming on Marie, specifically.
